This month's instructor is Doreen Bechtol, MFA. Doreen is the Master of Fine Arts Company Manager and Director of Training for the Shakespeare and Performance program at Mary Baldwin University
In this three hour workshop, participants will explore the Viewpoints movement vocabulary to heighten physical presence and awareness, to build movement-based material, and to practice ensemble creation. Armed with the Viewpoints vocabulary, we will then devise short compositions using Shakespeare's texts as a springboard to create short pieces of theatre. Participants should come prepared to move; i.e. comfortable clothes and bare feet or socks are preferable.
Where: The White Box Studio (2 N Main St, Harrisonburg)
Who: Studio sessions are only for actors who have performed in past staged readings or full productions
Silk Moth Stage produces place-based community events with new and under-produced plays at the center. Our productions are artist-centered and audience-connected. By creating a broader experience around the play, we hope to stretch the public’s conception of theater-going and reach beyond a typical theater audience.
We invite people to reconsider what a theater experience can be.
