We're so excited to partner with Snapology - Harrisonburg to offer a Parents' Night Out from 6-9 pm on May 11. Please sign up by 5 pm on May 10. Snapology's regular price for this Parents' Night Out is $32, but they are offering a discounted price for Silk Moth patrons!
People of all ages are always welcome at Silk Moth shows, but families might not always want to bring their children, depending on the content, the kids' ages or attention span, or the parents' interest in having a night out on their own. This season, we're coordinating with Snapology to offer one Parents' Night Out for each production.
Snapology teaches STEAM concepts to children through hands-on, interactive play, using LEGO® bricks, motors, and other fun tools. Their programs are designed to promote teamwork, inspire creativity, and gain confidence in STEAM, while not even realizing it's educational! In this workshop, students will get to explore the "Masterpiece" theme from this year's LEGO League Explore program. Students will explore how they can use technology to share their passions, hobbies and interests with others while learning about how experts in a variety of creative fields use technology in their roles. In this workshop, they'll focus on building examples of our hobbies and interests and how we can share them on a theater stage. They'll build & code a robotic stage to spin and share our hobbies. (They will use Spike Essential motors and pieces.) With Mother's Day only a day away, students will also identify the special gifts their mothers have, and they will create cards with LEGO® stamps for their moms plus another surprise craft!
They will serve a pizza dinner with fruit.
This is only for the May 11 performance, and only for children ages 4-12. Even if the show is cancelled for inclement weather, Parents Night Out will go on, and is not refundable. It will not be rescheduled.
Here's how this works:
Silk Moth Stage produces place-based community events with new and under-produced plays at the center. Our productions are artist-centered and audience-connected. By creating a broader experience around the play, we hope to stretch the public’s conception of theater-going and reach beyond a typical theater audience.
We invite people to reconsider what a theater experience can be.
