Our is 2025 season is called "Negotiations and Love Songs": Two new musicals about love and missed connections.
In THE LAST WIDE OPEN, by Audrey Cefaly, Lina and Roberto's lives intersect and parallel as three alternate realities unfold. The play renders the near hits and near misses that are the realities of this worn out waitress and immigrant dishwasher as well as the mystical ways the universe conspires to bring us all together. Performances will take place May 8-10 and 15-17.
THE WANTING FOREST, by Monica Flory, a play with music, tells the story of Mira and Aspen, mother and daughter. Frustrated new mother Mira accidentally sings the wrong lullaby, thereby fating Aspen to ‘always want’—a curse of both ambition and longing. As she comes of age, Aspen leaves the forest to search for her fated longing—and finds adventure and love, magic and heartbreak. Told in poetry, lullabies, and dance, this big-hearted adventure spans the sea, a mountaintop, and an underground network of fungi. A lyrical quest to discover hope beyond trees, selfhood beyond family, and how to unlock the beautiful curse of having (or being) a mother. Performances September 19-21 and 27-28. The Saturdays will have both a matinee and an evening performance.
We'd love it if you could tell us what days you're coming, but it's not required; let us know when you know by emailing us at hello@silkmothstage.com .
There will be a photographer at some performances. If you attend those evenings, your image may appear in future marketing materials.
Silk Moth Stage produces place-based community events with new and under-produced plays at the center. Our productions are artist-centered and audience-connected. By creating a broader experience around the play, we hope to stretch the public’s conception of theater-going and reach beyond a typical theater audience.
We invite people to reconsider what a theater experience can be.
